Short Term Winter Life Groups

February 2 @ 6:00 pm - March 31 @ 9:00 pm

We want to stay connected, cared for, and growing together this winter. Our Winter Groups are a safe way to do just that, either online or in person as guidelines or restrictions allow.

We’re offering a variety of groups based on different topics or areas of growth, and our hope is to have as many people as possible from across the Southridge family participate. Each group experience will consist of some socializing and a chance to connect with others, some spiritual content to help guide our faith journeys, and a discussion to process what’s shared and consider how it applies to our lives.

Whether you’ve never experienced a Life Group and are up for a short-term experiment or looking for more ways to stay connected, we invite everyone to sign up.

All groups will run between February 1st and March 31st.
Although we hoped to have some in-person group options available, at this stage, we’re expecting all groups to run online. It might not be our preferred option, but let’s thank God for our technologies and take advantage of this much needed opportunity for connection and growth.
1) Conversation Starters | 7 Weeks | Sundays 11:00am-12:00pm | February 7th | Online
This group will meet online after the premiere of our online services, processing the content of each week’s message. We will follow our Conversation Starters resource which is used by many of our Life Groups who engage in the services together.

2) Spiritual Practices | 5 Weeks | Sundays 7:00-8:30 pm | February 28 – March 28 | Online
Do you struggle knowing how to “spend time” with God? Does the thought of spiritual practices seem boring, weird, or intimidating? If you want to experience a more dynamic faith, but aren’t sure where to start, this workshop-style group explores and experiments with a variety of spiritual exercises designed to foster a deeper and daily practice-based faith.

3) Alpha | 7 Weeks | Mondays 6:30-8:00pm | February 8th | Online
We all have big questions about life and faith. Alpha is a chance to explore those questions through a Christian worldview. Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? How can I have faith? These are just a few we’ll process together. Whether you’re brand new to these ideas or re-questioning your faith journey, Alpha provides a fresh start for all of us.

4) Young Adults | Practicing the Way | 6 weeks | Mondays 7:00-9:00pm | February 1st | Online
We can’t learn to follow Jesus without practicing to do what he did and taught. Jesus didn’t just communicate information or ideas, but invited his followers into a new way of life. If you are 18-30(ish), join us for the next 6 weeks as we go through the book, “Practicing the Way of Jesus” by Mark Scandrette, and together learn how to put our faith into action by applying the gospel to our everyday lives.

5) “Unsettling the Word” Book Study | 4 weeks | Wednesdays 7:00-8:15pm | February 3rd |Online
We all read the Bible through our own cultural lens. But what would it look like to try to read the Bible in light of Indigenous culture and experience? Join us in studying the book “Unsettling the Word” to nurture courageous conversations with the Bible, hearing and discussing Biblical stories and themes as an instrument for justice for the cause of the oppressed, from a different cultural perspective. Books available through Nate (suggested price $25) or online.

6) Faith and Finances | 6 Weeks | Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:15 | February 3rd | Online
If money could talk, what would it want to say? Could the words align with the heart of Jesus? Let’s engage the money conversation in a way that challenges us to think practically and radically about how we spend, save, and give with the goal of making our lives better, and all of us better at life.

7) Parenting in the 21st Century / 4 weeks / Thursdays / February 4&18, March 4&18 7:30-8:45 pm / Online
We want to partner with parents to support them in raising our kids. This group will be a great opportunity to connect with other Southridge parents and unpack four conversations about parenting in the 21st century with content from Andy Stanley at North Point Community Church.
