REFLECTION
Reflection is a powerful spiritual practice. It is different than simply reminiscing or recalling what happened in the past. It’s also much more than just wishing hard for a new future to appear before us.
Genuine reflection requires deep thought, deep heart, and deep honesty. When we engage in reflection as a spiritual practice, we invite the Holy Spirit to be part of the conversation. To speak to us and to help us see the truth more clearly, both in terms of where we have been, as well as where we need to go up ahead.
We reflect, as a form of prayer. And in that spirit, we invite you to engage in any of the reflection practices below.
Tips for Reflecting Well:
- Find a quiet place, away from distraction and potential interruptions
- Consider using a simple notebook or journal to capture your reflections as they come to mind, and even as a way to record your prayers in response, if that works well for you
- Take a minute to center your mind and your body as you head into reflection, by taking a few slow deep breaths, and settling into a comfortable position
- Pray before beginning, letting God know you want to enter into these questions together with him
