PHIL‘S STORY | THE GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
Are you considering attending the Global Leadership Summit, but aren’t sure it’s for you?
Check out Phil’s story below, and learn how the GLS has impacted his life.
“Prior to my first summit experience I was a relatively new owner / operator of a small business and in a new community. As a business leader I understood the need to invest in leadership and personal development, but other than reading and identifying materials that I could find and follow online, I had few local intensive personal and professional development conduits. Early on, the leadership summit provided content and a space to pull away and invest in leadership and personal professional development. Having come from the large corporate world prior to small business ownership I was used to having regular opportunities to engage in immersive professional development and that was something I sorely missed when I moved into small business leadership.
As a relatively new owner of a small business I felt that the Global Leadership Summit was one of the most cost effective, both in time and dollars, options available to me to continue to invest in my personal and professional development. The GLS provides diverse, relevant and thought provoking content that allows me to raise my head above the day to day grind and take a deeper and longer look at where I’m heading both professionally and personally. I’ve consistently found that this type of experience causes me to grow as a business leader but also as a father, husband and leader in the community service work that I’m engaged in.
As a leader in a local chapter of a recovery ministry, one of the challenges is how to bring so much of the great material learned at the Summit back to others leading in the ministry who could benefit from it. The way we handled this was to run a series of deep dives into some of the speaker content that was provided during the Summit. We ran a mini-post-Summit where each of the leaders on our ministry team who were able to attend the Summit selected a speaker topic that they found impactful and presented it to other leaders who were unable to attend. This process allowed leaders who had attended to really dig into and own the material they initially found impactful as they would prepare and present to others what they learned. For those who didn’t attend, it piqued curiosity for them to be involved in the next year’s event. This year we have 15 people signed-up to attend the Summit, mostly because of the excitement they experienced through other leaders who attended in previous years. As a ministry leader the GLS provides condensed leadership development leverage that is hard to find anywhere else.
My encouragement would be for other small business owners or small ministry leaders who may not have existing conduits for personal and professional development to seriously consider the GLS as an opportunity to invest in you. In small business and leading in ministry, it’s easy to get buried in the day to day and forget that the best investment you can make is in yourself. If you want to invest in your family, your business, your relationships, your community, then invest in yourself – and the GLS is a great place to pull away and make that investment!”
We hope that through Phil’s words, you understand that everyone has influence, and that the Global Leadership Summit will positively affect all areas of your life.
